Day-care driver faces no charges in Quebec minivan crash
Prosecutors in Quebec have decided not to lay criminal charges against the driver in a horrible minivan crash last spring. The woman lost control of the van, killing eight pre-schoolers, including her own son.
Jeanne Auger ran a private day-care in the village of St-Jean-Baptiste-de-Nicolet, between Montreal and Quebec City. On March 16, she was driving 10 children on a field trip.
They were en route to meet a bus that was going to take them to a sugar shack, when Auger lost control of her minivan and crashed into an oncoming van.

The accident heightened awareness of car seats and proper seat belts for children across Canada.
On Monday, authorities ruled Auger was not responsible for the tragedy.
The case is now with the coroner's office. Provincial police will also review the case and could charge Auger with less serious traffic violations.
Auger's neighbours were relieved to hear the news. The close-knit community, including all the parents of the victims, expressed their support for Auger.
