Paramedics respond to injured person at rail crossing in Calgary's Downtown West End

Paramedics responded to an injured person at the CP Rail crossing at 11 Street S.W. in Calgary's Downtown West End on Tuesday evening. A witness said a man was hit by a train and thrown to the ground.

11 Street S.W. was closed both northbound and southbound for about 2 hours

Paramedics responded to an injured person at the CP Rail crossing at 11 Street S.W. in Calgary's Downtown West End on Tuesday evening.

A witness said a man was hit by a train and thrown to the ground around 7 p.m.

Paramedics transported the injured person away from the scene around 7:20 p.m. 

In a social media post, the City of Calgary's transportation department said emergency responders were "helping a cyclist involved in an incident on 11 St. and 9 Ave. S.W."

A section of 11 Street S.W. was closed both northbound and southbound as emergency responders worked at the scene. 

The street re-opened around 9:10 p.m.
