Southern Alberta drivers, beware: snowfall warnings are now in effect.

Heavy snow is forecasted to begin falling on Friday night, and is expected to continue throughout the day on Saturday, Environment Canada says.

It is projecting that 25 to 35 cm of snow could blanket the Crowsnest Pass — which faces a winter storm warning — and its surrounding areas, while Brooks, Cardston, Drumheller, Hanna, Kananaskis and Okotoks could see 10 to 20 cm.

Driving conditions for all areas are expected to deteriorate, and visibility is expected to be low.

Drivers are urged to keep headlights on, maintain a safe driving distance, and be prepared to stop on roads and highways.
