Crews are out clearing the city's main routes Sunday, as heavy snowfall that blanketed the city has ended.

Snowfall in Calgary ended around 12:30 p.m., which means crews are out plowing lanes and applying materials to the city's busiest routes — including Crowchild Trial and Memorial Drive, Chris McGeachy, spokesperson for the city's roads department, said in an emailed statement.

"We'd like to remind citizens to drive to conditions and adjust for winter weather, when possible," he said.

"Motorists are reminded to monitor changing weather conditions — snow covered roads, ice and visibility can be a factor in your commute. Prepare yourself before you head out, leave plenty of time to get to where you need to go and adapt to the changing weather."

A Calgary police spokesperson said the winter driving conditions have caused some additional collisions and sliding on the roads.

An EMS spokesperson said Sunday morning they are experiencing the status quo in terms of call volume for similar weather events.
