Missing Calgary teen located after 48-hour search
18-year-old went missing in southwest Calgary Friday evening
A Calgary father says he is "overwhelmed with gratitude" after his teenage daughter was found safe and sound 48 hours after she went missing in southwest Calgary.
The 18-year-old, who has a medical condition, didn't have her medication when she left a relative's home in Oakridge on Friday evening.
The family had launched a desperate search for the teen, with her mother handing out flyers at area malls, and reaching out to the media to get the public's help in finding her daughter.
On Sunday around 5:30 p.m., the teen was found safely, her father told CBC News.
He thanked the community for helping with the search effort.
"We live in a beautiful country where people are willing to help. I'm just overwhelmed with gratitude for the people that have helped," the teen's father said.
The family hasn't lived in Calgary for long, so there were fears the teen wouldn't know the area well.
