Man arrested following fatal assault in Inglewood

Calgary police say a man has been arrested following an altercation that left one dead in the southeast community of Inglewood Saturday afternoon.

Calgary police say a man has been arrested following an altercation that left one dead in the southeast community of Inglewood Saturday afternoon. 

In an update late Saturday, Calgary police said they have arrested one man and believe he is responsible for the assault. Police said no charges have been laid.

Around 1:35 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to the 1000 block of Ninth Avenue S.E. for reports that a man had been assaulted.

In a media release, police said first responders found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he died.

An autopsy will be scheduled for early next week.

If the incident is later determined to be a homicide, it will mark Calgary's 21st homicide this year.
