The Calgary Fire Department is asking the public for photos and videos of a fire that broke out at a high-rise in the city's southwest on Saturday.

Crews responded to a fire in an apartment building at the corner of Glenmore Trail and Elbow Drive S.W. around 5 p.m. on Dec. 12, the department said in a press release.

Fire and smoke could be seen erupting from a balcony on the ninth floor from the street.

It prompted an evacuation of the building, but caused no injuries, the release said.

Buses were brought to shelter residents who had to wait outside. Most have since returned to their units.

The fire department is still investigating the incident, but is asking anyone with photos or videos of the fire — particularly if taken before crews arrived — to email [email protected].
