Deric Kryvenchuk, 42, identified as cyclist killed near Okotoks

RCMP have released the name of the cyclist killed in a collision with a vehicle near Okotoks. Deric Kryvenchuk, 42, was standing by the road when he was struck and killed by an eastbound vehicle on Highway 7.

RCMP have released the name of the cyclist killed in a collision with a vehicle near Okotoks Monday afternoon.

Deric Kryvenchuk, 42, died after he was struck from behind by an eastbound vehicle on Highway 7 just south of Okotoks.

First responders said the man was not cycling at the time but was on the side of the eastbound lane. Stars air ambulance was called to the scene, but Kryvenchuk was taken by ground ambulance to the South Calgary Health Campus where he died.

The 41-year-old female driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Police say the collision is under investigation.
