Police think two men are behind numerous thefts and a lot of smashed car windows in two parking garages in Cochrane, Alta.
At about 6 a.m. Tuesday, RCMP took the first of about 15 reports of vehicle damage and theft out of two parkades in the Sunset area.
Two men went into the parkades, smashed windows and grabbed valuables — including a garage door opener, RCMP said in a release issued Friday.
Thanks to video surveillance, police have images of the men rolling up to the parkades in a grey Ford car that has been confirmed stolen.
Police want to identify the men and are asking anyone with information to contact the Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000.
Protect yourself
Police say these steps could help reduce your chance of being targeted for theft:
- Lock your car.
- Hide valuables, or better yet, take them out of your car completely.
- Don't keep keys in or garage door openers in your car.
- Don't leave your vehicle running in your driveway.
- To deter thieves, keep your property well lit and secure any valuables
