2 men charged after August shooting at Superstore in the East Village
Calgary police have charged a 30-year-old man in a 2022 homicide and a non-fatal parking lot shooting.
Calgary police said in a media release Thursday that Kai Errol Horst Keller has been charged with first-degree murder in the December homicide of Ashley Mawdsley in the southeast community of Douglasdale.
Police said they are still investigating the daytime shooting and attempting to identify other suspects.
Police said they have also charged Keller with one count of attempted murder and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm in relation to a non-fatal shooting which occurred in the parkade underneath the Real Canadian Superstore in the East Village in August.
Police said a second man, 28, was also charged in connection to the Superstore shooting.
Police said that man was charged with one count of attempted murder and six firearm-related offences, including reckless discharge of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm while prohibited and possession of a loaded restricted firearm with readily accessible ammunition.
Police said both of the accused are believed to have ties to ongoing organized crime activities in Calgary.
