Body pulled from Elbow River

The death of a man found in Calgary's Elbow River near Sandy Beach is being treated as suspicious.

The death of a man found in Calgary's Elbow River near Sandy Beach is being treated as suspicious.

Rafters spotted the body at about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday and called police.

Officers used the police helicopter to locate the body. An autopsy will be done to determine the man's cause of death and identity.

"Any death in a public waterway we treat as suspicious so we're proceeding with an abundance of caution right now," said Calgary police duty Insp. Quinn Jacques.
