Homicide investigators have responded to a deadly shooting at the University Golf Club near UBC's Vancouver campus on Monday.
At least six RCMP cruisers responded around mid-morning to the parking lot of the public golf course adjacent to Pacific Spirit Regional Park.
A body in the parking lot was covered by a white blanket.
Sgt. Timothy Pierotti with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said the team responded to shots fired Monday and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds who later died.
Also on Monday, emergency crews responded to a burning vehicle in the nearby Dunbar neighbourhood. The vehicle was found on fire in an alley near Crown Street and 22nd Avenue, less than five kilometres from the golf course.

Pierotti said any time a vehicle is on fire in proximity to a recent shooting, they'll investigate a possible link, but he says no connection has yet been established.
Richmond RCMP issued a statement Monday saying they were investigating a three-vehicle crash on Highway 91 linked to a suspicious fire in Vancouver, but they wouldn't say whether it's the same fire.
Mounties said the collision involved a police cruiser, a commercial vehicle and a vehicle with three suspects inside, who are now being held for investigation.
The golf course has been closed while police investigate.
