BC Ferries is warning travellers that parking lots at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal and Duke Point terminal are full to capacity already, and more Thanksgiving traffic is expected.

There were already warnings that the Tsawwassen ferry terminal would see extra traffic because of the opening of a new mega-mall nearby.

The Tsawwassen Mills shopping centre — located on Highway 17 just before the ferry terminal — will be the fourth largest in Metro Vancouver.

But with no SkyTrain station and limited bus service, many of those checking out the new mall over the Thanksgiving long weekend will likely be driving their own car or truck to get there.

That's raised concerns with both BC Ferries and the Ministry of Transportation who are warning drivers to expect delays on Highway 17.

BC Ferries is advising drivers heading to the Tsawwassen terminal to give themselves extra time.

The Ministry of Transportation has posted traffic controllers to help with congested terminals over the long weekend.
