Man, 18, dead in early morning Stanley Park crash, police say
Neither alcohol nor drugs involved in crash, according to investigators

One man is dead and another was sent to hospital after an early morning crash in Vancouver's Stanley Park, according to police.
The Vancouver Police Department said in a media release Friday morning that the pair were travelling along Stanley Park Drive between Second Beach and Third Beach just after 3 a.m. PT when the driver lost control and hit a tree. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
An 18-year-old passenger died at the scene, the VPD said, and the driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Other recent fatal crashes
This comes after two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash in Abbotsford just after midnight on Thursday morning. The Abbotsford Police Department said a pickup truck hit a telephone pole and flipped. Both people inside the truck died at the scene.
And on Wednesday afternoon, two people died north of Campbell River on Vancouver Island when an SUV, heading south on the North Island Highway, ended up off the road and hit trees.
RCMP say there were four people in the vehicle at the time. Two suffered minor injuries, while the driver and one passenger died at the scene.
That crash is still under investigation, but police believe a hailstorm contributed to the accident.
Another 10 people were sent to hospital on Wednesday after a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 99 near Whistler, two of whom were in critical condition. The road was closed for several hours on Wednesday as a result of the crash.
