SFU, UNBC top Maclean's 2017 Canadian university rankings
Simon Fraser best comprehensive university, University of Northern B.C. takes a top spot too
The annual Maclean's Magazine ranking of Canadian universities is out for 2017 and, once again, several B.C. post-secondary institutions lead the pack.
In the comprehensive category, which rates schools that conduct a significant amount of research and also offer undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, Simon Fraser University topped the list for a third straight year while the University of Victoria ranked third behind the University of Waterloo.
The University of Northern B.C. took top spot in the primarily undergraduate category for a second year in a row. The category ranks the country's 19 smaller schools offering fewer graduate options.
The University of British Columbia grabbed third spot in the rankings of powerhouse universities offering medical and doctoral programs, behind McGill and the University of Toronto.
