Prince George mayor makes royal birthday proclamation for B.C. city

The city of Prince George will celebrate its royal connection annually, after the mayor proclaimed July 22 — the birthday of the young Windsor — "Prince George of Cambridge Day".

The B.C. city of Prince George will celebrate its royal connection on an annual basis, after the mayor proclaimed July 22 — the birthday of the young Windsor — "Prince George of Cambridge Day"

"This city has a long and special history with the Royal Family," Mayor Shari Green said in a statement.

"From the city’s incorporation in 1915, a centennial we will celebrate next year, to Charles and Diana’s visit in the 1980s, to Queen Elizabeth II officially opening the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) in the 1990s, Prince George has a connection to the monarchy."
