Suspect arrested in relation to deadly hit-and-run along Abbotsford Highway

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a deadly hit-and-run along a highway in Abbotsford, B.C., early Thursday, according to police.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a deadly hit-and-run along a highway in Abbotsford, B.C., early Thursday, according to police.

The man was hit by a vehicle on Highway 11 between Clayburn Road and Harris Road just after 6 a.m. PT, police said. A statement said he was found badly injured and died at the scene, despite paramedics' efforts.

Police said the man was in his 50s.

Just before 1 p.m. PT, police confirmed the collision was a hit-and-run. An updated statement said investigators had found a suspect vehicle and arrested its driver in relation to the collision.

The highway is closed southbound between Clayburn and Harris for "the next few hours" as the investigation continues.
