Lions Gate Bridge work to resume this weekend without 'bump'
Expect traffic delays as traffic goes down to single lane this weekend.
Anyone who uses the Lions Gate Bridge can expect delays during construction this weekend, but the dreaded 'bump' that jammed traffic last summer should not be a problem this time around, officials are promising.
There will be a single-lane closure from 9 p.m. PT to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, and single-lane alternating traffic from 10:30 p.m. PT on April 2, to 9 a.m. April 3.
B.C.'s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says the rehabilitation work will replace the aging south tower expansion joint.

Last August a temporary cover that came to be known at the "bump" caused long delays as drivers slowed to a crawl to cross it.
This time, officials say they will install a temporary bridge cover with two approach ramps on either side to ensure a smooth ride.
The ministry says the entire project is expected to take eight weeks and cost $1.1 million.
Since 2001, the province says it has invested $26.4 million on rehabilitation work on the Lions Gate Bridge.
