Li Zhao charged with cutting up dead body in West Vancouver
Accused is co-owner of the house where the victim's body was found in British Properties
A West Vancouver man charged with allegedly cutting up a dead body made his first court appearance on Tuesday.
Li Zhao, 54, has been charged with interference of a body, following the suspicious death of a 42-year-old man over the weekend.
Zhao is the co-owner of the house where the man's body was found, in the British Properties, and police will only say the accused and the victim were known to each other.
Zhao has been remanded into custody until next Monday.
'Violent confrontation'
Police have released very few details about the case, but they have indicated Zhao could face more charges as the investigation continues.
They have not said where the body was found, who the victim was, and where Zhao was arrested.
Investigators have revealed they first received reports of a "violent confrontation" at the home on the 900 block of King Georges Way late on Saturday night.
Officers then secured the home and arrested Zhao on Sunday morning.
