Collision in Langley, B.C. leaves one dead, closes Hwy 1 overnight
RCMP say a tow truck hit the back of a tractor-trailer, crash closed highway near 267th Street for hours
One person is dead and another was airlifted to hospital following a crash on Highway 1 in Langley, B.C., on Friday night.
Sgt. Joe Leeson with Langley RCMP says officers were called around 9:40 p.m. PT Friday after a tow truck hit the rear of a tractor-trailer in the eastbound lanes of Highway 1.
Leeson says the tow-truck driver died at the scene.
The passenger in the tow-truck was flown by air ambulance to hospital after the crash near 267th Street. B.C. Emergency Health Services says it dispatched three ground ambulances to the scene.
The collision closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 near Langley overnight, and while DriveBC says the road reopened Saturday morning around 10:30 a.m. PT, it warned drivers to expect major delays due to congestion.
RCMP are investigating the cause of the collision.
