Westbound lanes along a stretch of Highway 1 in Surrey, B.C. reopened around 9:45 p.m. PT after a fatal rush-hour accident.
According to Insp. Rob Anderson, the accident involved two vehicles at 176 Street late Friday afternoon.
Police believe an eastbound pickup truck crossed the median and collided with a westbound SUV.
The 29-year-old driver of the SUV died, while two other people were taken to hospital.
The accident resulted in sizable traffic delays during the rush-hour commute.
The cause of the collision and identity of the victim have not been named.
