Brian Edward Abrosimo was charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement, sexual assault and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Abrosimo sat in court with crossed arms on Monday, as his lawyer entered guilty pleas to the charges.

The victim and a 15-year-old friend were biking along a country road in Langley last August when they were rammed from behind by Abrosimo's van.

The older girl was knocked down, and Abrosimo then grabbed the 11-year-old, forced her into his van and sexually assaulted her. He later dropped his young victim off in Surrey.

Abrosimo has a lengthy criminal record, including two previous convictions for sexual assault. And the Crown is now considering an application to have him labelled a dangerous offender – which would mean an indeterminate prison sentence.

But his lawyer, David Karp, maintains he doesn't fit that profile, and is not a predator.

"Essentially my client's charged with an isolated sexual assault. He does not have a history of this, despite what's being portrayed."

Abrosimo will be back in court July 20
