Man killed in gang-related shooting in Delta, B.C., police say
A man who was taken to the hospital after a Monday shooting has now died, police say
Police in Delta, B.C., say a man who was injured in a gang-related shooting on Monday has died in hospital.
The Delta Police Department (DPD) identified the man who was killed in the targeted attack as 29-year-old Delta resident Gurvinder Uppal.
In a Tuesday statement, police said the DPD's major crime unit is now investigating the shooting as a homicide.
"The DPD [extends] condolences to the family for their loss," the statement read.
The statement said this was Delta's first recorded homicide in 2025, and the city had no recorded homicides in 2024.
On Monday, Delta police said officers were dispatched to the 8100-block of 112B Street at 7:18 a.m. PT after reports of a shooting, and one man was taken to hospital.
Police say a white Ford pickup truck, which was located on fire shortly afterwards at the 7300-block of Blake Drive, was connected to the shooting.
"These incidents have the hallmarks [of] other B.C. gang conflict shootings," police said at the time. "Investigators believe the shooting to be a targeted incident and not directed at the general public."
Police say anyone with more information can contact the DPD at 604-940-7321, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
