Victim of homicide in Vancouver identified

Police have identified the victim of Thursday's homicide as 43-year-old Vancouver resident Fizul Jeremy Mohammed.

Vancouver police are investigating the city's ninth homicide of 2019 after a 43-year-old man was injured in the Downtown Eastside on Thursday morning and later died in hospital.

On Friday, police identified the victim as Fizul Jeremy Mohammed.

Police said Mohammed suffered life-threatening injuries near Main and Hastings streets before he made his way to the the area of Robson and Denman streets in the West End, where he collapsed. Police were called out for a man in distress around 10 a.m. PT.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
