One man is dead after an apparent drowning at North Vancouver's Lynn Canyon Friday afternoon, police say.

RCMP were called to the park at about 5 p.m. PT after witnesses saw a young man go under the water in a popular swimming area near the park's suspension bridge.

Officials say it's now a recovery operation.

The park — including the suspension bridge — is now closed.

Police say the drowned man was part of a group of four people in their early twenties who were swimming.

The other three men are being interviewed.

RCMP have not confirmed whether the men were cliff jumping into the 90 foot pool, a popular pastime in the park.
