SPCA says animals had badly matted fur, overgrown nails
The B.C. SPCA says 17 "badly neglected'' silky terrier dogs have been removed from a breeder in Cowichan.
Officials said 10 female and five male terriers were in poor condition with badly matted fur and overgrown nails. They were soaked in urine and feces.
The dogs, ranging from one to nine years old, were legally surrendered into SPCA care following a brief investigation, and two adult shepherd dogs were also removed.
The SPCA's Marcie Moriarty said in addition to voluntarily surrendering all the dogs, the owners signed a written agreement that they would not own or take possession of any new animals.
