At the 2019 event on Dec. 6, total donations over that time surpassed $10 million.
It was the 33rd year the event has been held. By Dec. 31, $1,126,438 had been raised — beating last year's record of $823,191.
The CBC Vancouver broadcast centre was open to the public for a day of fundraising to support the thousands of British Columbians who rely on food banks.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank distributes around 38,500 kilograms of food a week. Much of it is donated but a lot of it, about $1.5 million each year, is also purchased.
