Burnaby Marine Pub fire video released by police
Pub at 5820 Marine Drive was completely destroyed by fire in January
Police are hoping the public can help them identify a person of interest seen in surveillance footage from their arson investigation at Burnaby Marine Pub in January.
The pub at 5820 Marine Drive was destroyed by fire. By the time RCMP officers reached the scene, the pub was fully engulfed in flames. Investigators later determined the fire started in the back of the building.
Surveillance footage released on Wednesday shows an unidentified man at the rear patio of the pub around 2:25 a.m., looking into a garbage can that is at the back of the pub. He is also seen earlier driving into the parking lot in a newer model light-coloured car.
Another camera angle shows a fire starting to burn on the ground next to the pub's patio deck and the same man can be seen through the open patio windows standing near the fire.
He then walks up the patio stairs, tries to get in through the door and then climbs through the open patio window over the lattice-work railing.
He walks across the patio and out of sight for a short while. Meanwhile, the fire is starting to spread from the ground outside next to the patio and towards the patio chair and table. The man comes back into the view, carrying a chair which he places on top of the fire. He adds two more chairs on top of the pile on fire and then walks out of view.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922 and ask to speak to the Investigative Support Team, quoting file number 2015-1350, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
The suspect is described as a man with dark features, 30 to 35 years old, with a medium build and a receding hair line of dark hair. He was wearing a dark jacket, white t-shirt, white runners and light-coloured pants
