RCMP investigating death after body found on Langley-Surrey boundary

Surrey RCMP have opened an investigation after discovering a body Wednesday morning near a brush fire.

The cause of death is unknown, but not considered suspicious

UPDATE — July 16, 2020: Surrey RCMP said they are continuing to investigate after a body was found Wednesday morning in a wooded area on the Langley-Surrey boundary, but the death is no longer considered suspicious.


EARLIER STORY:

Surrey RCMP said in a news release that officers and members of the Langley fire department responded to a report of a brush fire shortly before 11 a.m.

They say the fire was put out and a body was found near 46A Avenue and 196A Street. The cause of the person's death is not known.

The Mounties did not provide information about the identity of the deceased.

Surrey RCMP's general investigation unit has taken over the investigation. The BC Coroners Service is also involved in the investigation.
