West Vancouver Police have made an arrest in a hit and run that left a cyclist badly injured.

Victim sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries

Police say the cyclist was struck by a black pickup truck at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of 19th Street and Bellevue Avenue in West Vancouver.

The accident happened at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of 19th Street and Bellevue Avenue in West Vancouver.

Police say the driver was going westbound in a black pickup truck when he struck a 48-year-old cyclist, resulting in injuries that included several fractured ribs and extensive bruising and abrasions. 

According to a release from police, on Monday night a 47-year old West Vancouver man provided a voluntary statement to investigators and was arrested. 

He has since been released and is expected in North Vancouver Provincial Court July 19 to face one criminal charge of failure to stop at the scene of an accident. 

Police say a vehicle has been seized by investigators, and that the investigation remains active.
