Addie Tinholt of Vancouver will be getting special recognition for her refugee advocacy efforts at Parliament Hill
today.

The eight-year-old girl's mother says Tinholt helped spark a nationwide campaign to sponsor refugee families last year after meeting with M.P. Harjit Sajjan about the idea.

8-year-old Addie Tinholt says she is inspired by the story of Malala Yousafzai.

Since then, her family has sponsored seven refugee families and are in the midst of helping three more get to Canada.

Tinholt's efforts have earned her a special meeting and tour with Sajjan on the hill this afternoon.
