4 Vancouver Island officers facing assault charges following IIO investigations

Four Vancouver Island RCMP officers are facing assault charges in two separate incidents following investigations by the Independent Investigations Office.
Const. Tim Bedard, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, stemming from an alleged incident in the Nanaimo detachment cells on June 15, 2014.
Const. Scott Kennedy Jones, Cpl. Michelle Rene Lebrun, and Const. Mick Donald White of the Oceanside detachment have been charged with assault with a weapon.
According to the Criminal Justice Branch, the three officers allegedly used excessive force when they pepper sprayed a person inside the Parksville cells on June 10, 2013.
The four officers have been scheduled to appear in court in Nanaimo, B.C. on March 17.
