A moment of pop-punk history took place on the Juno Awards stage this year: Benji and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte inducted Ajax, Ont., band Sum 41 into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

The Maddens opened by reminiscing about the times both bands shared on tour in their early days: "These guys are legends. They hold a very special place in punk rock music, and... we've known Sum 41 since we we're kids."

Once they got up on stage, Sum 41's Deryck Whibley thanked the Madden brothers for their remarks, saying: "We both started as no-name bands, touring in vans together, dreaming of taking over the world, and here we are, 25 years later together. It's really special to have you guys, thank you so much."

Whibley continued, going down memory lane through the highs and lows of their 25-year career.

"All the struggles had made all the successes feel that much greater. We're proud of this journey, it's been exciting, it's been dangerous, but most of all, it's been honest."
