Serums, lotions, masks and even bath salts ahead — and sure, a few pops of colour too

While June brought us plenty of brights to play with, July seems to be shining a light on a specific beauty concern: great skin. Sure, we were introduced to a few pops of colour, but even more serums, lotions, masks, bath salts all in the pursuit of glowing healthy skin. So let your inner, summer, self-care babe free with any one of these new, must-have finds. And continue having a beautiful summer, y'all.

Sun lover

Hoping into a steaming hot bath at the end of a scorching summer day might not be what we have in mind, but if you accidentally got some sun and are fighting the drying effects of a burn, add Dr. Teal's Coconut Oil Foaming Epsom Salts to your tub. The soothing, hydrating power of coconut lends itself perfectly to the anti-inflammatory properties of Epsom salts. And the smell? Well, you can't get anymore summer than coconut.

Spa-approved

The Hammam Spa on King West in Toronto is a well-known self-care institution in the city — it has been in operation for over 10 years for a reason! Co-founder Celine Tadrissi started mixing concoctions in the spa to help clients with certain skin issues, and although she didn't necessarily set out to start her own line, Céla, a line of luxurious, Canada-inspired and made body care products, launches this month. The line's standout item? The Crème de la Crème body lotion, which is infused with grapefruit, Abyssinian oil, and the proprietary Céla complex (made up of six Canadian botanical extracts; elderberry, rosemary, juniper berry, evening primrose, blueberry and lavender) for super hydrated, glowing skin. The scent, which is rich and invigorating, reminds us of an orange creamsicle.

In the clear

Just this month, Clinique launched its first clear moisturizer, their Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly. It's lightweight and offers 24-hour hydration, so anyone with sensitive skin, or who doesn't like slathering on thicker creams in the summer heat, will want to grab a bottle. The fast absorbing formula, housed in the classic clear Clinique bottle, contains hyaluronic acid to add moisture and a blend of sunflower seed cake, barley extract, and cucumber fruit extract, to help protect skin from environmental aggressors.

Clear the way

While sunscreen is there to help protect against aging and spots, there are other reasons that hyperpigmentation can show up as we get older. Hormones, acne scars and more can contribute to the appearance of brown spots, which are notoriously hard to get rid of once they make their debut. So SkinCeuticals went to work on a new formula aimed at diminishing the look of increased melanin production. Containing high levels of tranexamic acid, a molecule that works to fade the look of brown spots, alongside niacinamide, another element that targets hyperpigmentation, it also contains kojic acid, a well-known ingredient that helps to fight dull skin. Used alone as a targeted daily serum, it produced some great results in the brand's clinical trials over a 12 week period, and the lightweight yellow concoction is perfect to use underneath a daily moisturizer.

Project restoration

Toronto-based, all-natural brand Schaf is known for their no-fuss, gender-neutral line of skincare products. So it comes as no surprise that they've just introduced a glow-inducing mask, made for everyone. Containing hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, gotu kola, grapeseed and sweet almond oil, and arctic mud, the 15-minute treatment delivers a radiant, even glow to the complexion, while it helps rid skin of toxins and debris, making it the perfect pre-snooze self-care ritual. Did we mention that it also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines? Yeah, there's that, too.

Rainbow bright

Changes things up this summer with a pop of vibrant blue, red, purple or pink, a la Lily Allen, Fergie, Nicki Minaj or Zendaya, thanks to the new SoColour Cult line from Matrix. The salon brand just launched a plethora hues that can be applied in super saturated tones or in strategically placed faded pastels, in semi, demi and permanent formulas, meaning you can have as much fun as you want. Even better? They also created a Colour Erase that can literally delete the colour molecules from your strands, even the permanent ones! Now it's really time to play!

Because our obsession with long, sleek black lashes will never wane, we had to try the new mascara from IT Cosmetics, called Superhero for a good reason. With a dense brush, and rich, collagen-enhanced formula, lashes seem to stretch out for miles. Added bonus, the mascara is paraben- and cruelty-free. Your perfect summer smoulder awaits.

Bright spot

SPF works to protect our skin from sun damage, but what about the daily deluge of environmental aggressors, like smog and pollution? Vitamin C can help the boost the skin's natural defense systems, and now Dermalogica has introduced a serum that will do just that and more. The brand touts their latest as having three times the amount of absorbent vitamin C than its competitors, by using an ultra-stable form of the ingredient, which in turn helps set up the skin for success while it also aids in brightening, tightening, and reducing the look of fine lines. To help bolster the effects, this formula also includes lactic acid to help whisk away dull cells, and chia seed oil rich in antioxidants to help hydrate. Bright days are ahead!
