Canadian Screen Award noms are in: Schitt's Creek leads the pack with 22 nominations
The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television have announced their nominations for the 2021 Canadian Screen Awards (CSA) and many of your CBC Comedy favourites have made the cut.
Schitt's Creek is leading the pack with a total of 22 nominations, including Best Comedy Series, which the show has won the last two years in a row. The show's entire lead cast including Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, Annie Murphy and Catherine O'Hara have been nominated for Best Lead Actors/Actresses. As well as Emily Hampshire, Jennifer Robertson, Karen Robinson, Chris Elliot and Noah Reid for Best Supporting Actor/Actresses.
Another one of the show's most notable nominations is for Best Achievement in Hair, which after seeing Moira's plethora of extravagant wigs and hairstyles throughout the six seasons, comes as no surprise.
Schitt's Creek's behind-the-scenes documentary Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt's Creek Farewell has also received a CSA nomination. The hour long special which aired after the show's series finale has been nominated for Best Biography or Arts Documentary Program or Series.
Coming after the show's recent announcement that season five will be its last, Kim's Convenience is celebrating some good news as it has been nominated for 11 CSA's. Among the nominations are Best Comedy Series, Best Achievement in Casting and Best Writing. The cast is also being recognized for their beloved roles with Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Jean Yoon nominated for Best Lead Actor/Actress and Andrew Phung for Best Supporting Actor.
Andrew Phung also received a second nomination for Best Host, Web Program or Series for his work on The 2019 Canadian Improv Games with Andrew Phung. The series followed the country's top student improv groups in a competition to see who would be crowned champion. Also up for best host are Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice for their Kenny and Spenny Paldemic Special in which the two friends finally reunite for another shot at their friendship and careers.
Currently airing its fifth season, Workin' Moms has also received 11 nominations and has also been nominated for Best Comedy Series. Everyone's favourite best-friend-duo Catherine Reitman and Dani Kind have both been nominated for Best Lead Actress, along with their fellow on-screen moms, Sarah McVie and Juno Rinaldi for Best Supporting Actresses. The show's other nominations include Best Supporting Actor (Ryan Belleville and Peter Keleghan), Best Direction, Best Photography and Best Picture Editing.
Although Baroness Von Sketch Show aired its fifth and final season last year, the Baroness' are still being lauded for their collective hilarity. The show has been nominated for six CSA's which include Best Comedy Series and Best Sketch Comedy Performance for which all four Baronesses (Carolyn Taylor, Meredith MacNeill, Aurora Browne, Jennifer Whalen) have been nominated. The show's other nominations include Best Writing, Best Direction, Best Picture Editing and Best Costume Design.
This Hour Has 22 Minutes has been nominated for three awards, recognizing its ever-so-talented cast and crew. Cathy Jones, Mark Critch, Susan Kent and Trent McClellan have been nominated for Best Performance and the show has also been nominated for Best Writing and Best Direction.
Best known as one of Queer Eye's Fab Five, Jonathan Van Ness hosted his own Just For Laughs gala titled Jonathan Van Ness: Kicks. It featured performances from a number of comedians and entertainers and has been nominated for Best Direction.
Also among the list of this year's nominees is We're Funny That Way: The Virtual Pride Special for Best Performing Arts Program. The one hour special celebrated the LGBTQ2+ community and featured music and comedy from many familiar CBC faces, including Gavin Crawford, Martha Chaves, Carolyn Taylor, Colin Mochrie and many more.
Racking up six nominations for various Web Program or Series categories is Bit Playas. The series' stars Kris Siddiqi and Nigel Downer were both nominated for Best Lead Performance and the show was also nominated for Best Web Program or Series, Fiction, Best Writing and twice for Best Direction.

Hey Lady! Has also received four nominations for various Web Program or Series categories including Best Web Program or Series, Fiction, Best Direction, Best Writing and Jackie Richardson has been nominated for Best Supporting Performance.
Among the other nominees are The Amazing Gayl Pile: Last Resort and Decoys for Best Web Program or Series, Fiction, as well as Tracey Hoyt's nomination for Best Supporting Performance for her role in Decoys.
