Schitt's Creek racks up 5 Golden Globe nominations

The Canadian comedy sensation was nominated for best TV comedy.

Nominations for the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards have been released, and although Schitt's Creek wrapped its final season last year, the beloved Canadian comedy still managed to rack up five nominations.

The show was not only nominated for best TV musical or comedy series but all four leads were also recognized for their performances. 

Co-stars Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara who play husband and wife, Johnny and Moira Rose were both nominated for best performance by an actor/actress. 

Dan Levy was also nominated alongside his castmate Annie Murphy, for best performances by an actor/actress in a supporting role, as they play the Rose children, David and Alexis. 

"Thinking of all of the amazingly talented people who helped make this show. Y'did good, team! Xo," tweeted Dan Levy, in response to news of the show's nominations. 

Sharing in the excitement and good news, Eugene Levy also shared a heartfelt tweet about his gratitude for the show's nominations and success. 

"My Cup Runneth Over was the title of our very first episode in 2015. How prophetic a title it was. Thanks HFPA for the 5 #GoldenGlobes nominations!! @SchittsCreek @SchittsCreekPop."

Fellow Canadian, Donald Sutherland was also among the list of nominees for best supporting actor in a series, miniseries, or motion picture for TV, for his role in The Undoing. 

Schitt's Creek's competition for the best comedy nominees includes The Flight Attendant, Emily in Paris, and The Great. 

However, Schitt's Creek's Golden Globe nominations aren't the show's first nominations of the year, it was also nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for outstanding comedy series. As well as five Critics' Choice Awards, including best comedy series. 

Although his time as David Rose is done, audiences can still watch Dan Levy on screen, for his upcoming Saturday Night Live appearance on February 6th. 

Being the supportive father he is, Eugene Levy couldn't help but share in his son's excitement by tweeting about the news.

"That's my boy!! Hosting SNL Feb 6!!!," he replied to his son's SNL announcement.
