What's new on CBC Gem in February 2020

This February, we're excited to bring you new CBC Gem originals like the comedy series Hey Lady!, and sci-fi drama Utopia Falls, along with new episodes of CBC favourites like Schitt's CreekKim's Convenience, and Family Feud Canada.  Also streaming this month: many award-winning Canadian and international shows and films. 

Here's the breakdown of everything coming to CBC Gem this February.

Comedy Series

  • Workin' Moms (Season 4)

Workin' Moms is returning for a fourth season Tuesday, February 18 at 9:30 p.m. 

Change is in the air, as this season finds the toddlers at Crest Moon Camp and the moms at their wits' end. Watch a new episode every Tuesday for free here on CBC Gem

  • Hey Lady!

  • Schitt's Creek (Season 6 continues) 

New episodes of the sixth and final season of Schitt's Creek premiering Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

The final season of Schitt's Creek: The Rose family continues to come to terms with losing their video-empire fortune while living in the small community of Schitt's Creek. Stream previous seasons for free here on CBC Gem

  • Kim's Convenience (Season 4 continues)

New episode on CBC Gem every Tuesday at 8 p.m. 

The funny, heartfelt story of the Kim family and their downtown convenience store continues with new weekly episodes in February. In the fourth season, the office romance between Jung and Shannon takes new turns, Appa and Jung try to mend their relationship, and the Kims have their first family dinner in 15 years.

  • Brassic

An authentic and edgy comedy series written by Danny Brocklehurst following a group of working-class friends who find unconventional ways to win at life. Watch the trailer here.

  • The Family Law

Season 2 and 3 premiering on CBC Gem on February 14. 

The Family Law gives a vivid glimpse inside the gloriously dysfunctional world of a hilarious and heart-warming Chinese-Australian family through the eyes of 14-year-old Benjamin. Watch Season 1 now for free here on CBC Gem.  

  • Life With Derek (Season 3 & 4)

Streaming on CBC Gem on Friday, February 14. 

Here comes the nostalgia! Two more seasons of this 2005 Family Channel series full of step-sibling rivalry will be on CBC Gem this Valentine's Day.

  • Utopia Falls

In the dystopian ruins of Earth, a group of teens are chosen to compete in a performing arts competition. When they find a hidden historical Archive (voiced by none other than hip-hop icon, Snoop Dogg), they are forced to question everything they have been taught. 

The Canadian behind Drake's biggest hits, Boi-1da is the show's executive music producer. CBC's new original young adult sci-fi drama Utopia Falls will be streaming for free, exclusively on CBC Gem on Friday, February 14.

  • Fortunate Son (Season 1 continues)

New episode on CBC Gem every Wednesday at 9 p.m.

Starring Stephen Moyer, Kari Matchett, Darren Mann, Fortunate Son is a new CBC original spy drama based on the true story from 1968, at a time of global political and social upheaval.

Season 3, Episode 5 coming to CBC Gem on Wednesday, February 5.

New episode on CBC Gem every Wednesday at 8 p.m. 

Burden of Truth is back! Season 3 picks up one year later, with Joanna Chang (Kristin Kreuk) and Billy Crawford (Peter Mooney) working together in their new boutique law firm, Crawford-Chang, on a new exciting case.   • Coroner (Season 2 continues)

New episode every Wednesday at 9 p.m.

This edgy crime drama follows Toronto coroner, Jenny, who has a strange connection to the dead. She seeks justice for their cases, all while trying to balance her personal relationships and challenges. Stream previous seasons for free here on CBC Gem.

  • Britannia

Season 1 premiering February 7. 

A historical fantasy drama set in AD 43 that follows ancient Rome's conquest of the Celts in the British Isles starring David Morrissey (The Walking Dead) and Kelly Reilly (True Detective) from award-winning writer Jez Butterworth (Spectre, Jerusalem).

Coming to CBC Gem on February 7. 

An adaptation of the best-selling novel by Andrea Levy, that follows the trials, tribulations and survival of plantation slave July and her mistress Caroline. 

  • Coronation Street

The longest-running British soap opera in television history continues Monday to Friday at 7:30 p.m. Watch here on CBC Gem.

  • Fridge Wars

New episode every Thursday at 8 p.m. starting February 27.

Fridge Wars pits two top Canadian chefs against one another with a challenge to create extraordinary meals using only the ingredients taken from the ordinary fridges of Canadian families. The new culinary competition series premieres Thursday, February 27 at 8 p.m.

Premieres February 7.

This landmark series about Queen Elizabeth II is themed across four episodes, providing fresh insight from historians, royal insiders and the wider family. It reveals who the Queen and her family really are, and just how they have navigated the 67-year reign.

  • Warrior Women with Lupita Nyong'o

Premieres February 14th. 

This documentary follows a journey across Benin, West Africa to uncover the 'Agoji' (a forgotten female army) — or as Europeans labeled them, the 'Amazons'. 

  • Gènese (Genesis)

Premieres February 21.

Gènese follows three teenagers, shaken up by their first loves in the turmoil of their youth. The film received three Canadian Screen Award nominations in 2019: Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay (Lesage) and Best Supporting Actor (Ahmarani)

  • Art of the Steal

Premieres February 28.

Kurt Russell and Jay Baruchel star in this Canadian thriller/comedy.

Jimmy Duck Holmes in I am the Blues
