Spain World Cup plane struck by lightning

Spain’s World Cup title defence didn’t go exactly as planned. So naturally their plane was struck by lightning while heading home.
From Reuters:
“The Iberia flight, which touched down at about midday local time in the Spanish capital, was hit by a bolt of lightning but there were no negative consequences for the aircraft or the passengers, a spokeswoman for the airline confirmed.”
After getting pummeled 5-1 by the Netherlands and crashing out of the World Cup after only two games, the lightning strike ended up being only the third-worst thing that happened to Spain at the World Cup.
Jokes combining “Spain,” “rain,” and “plane” were considered for this post, but quickly discarded.
