Canadian women's 3x3 team advances to quarterfinals at last-chance Olympic qualifier
Men's team eliminated after loss to France; women to face Italy after beating Czechs
The Canadian women's 3x3 team beat the Czech Republic for their third straight win at a last-chance Olympic 3x3 basketball qualification tournament in Debrecen, Hungary on Saturday.
The team of Paige Crozon, Kacie Bosch, and twin sisters Michelle and Katherine Plouffe scored a 17-10 win over the Czechs to finish atop Pool B with a perfect 3-0 record.
Canada took control of the game against the Czech Republic from the opening whistle, beginning the game with a 9-1 run.
The Canadians, who opened the tourney with victories over Chile (21-11) and Lithuania (19-16), now move on to play Italy on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. ET. Italy finished second in Pool D with a 2-1 record.

The top three finishers at the event will lock down spots at the Summer Games. Host France, Australia, Azerbaijan, China and United States previously qualified on the women's side.
On the men's side, Canada's Olympic hopes were extinguished.
Jérôme Desrosiers, Bikramjit Gill, Alex Johnson and Kamar Mcknight were eliminated from playoff contention after losing their final pool game, a 21-11 decision to France.

The loss dropped their record to 1-2, with their lone win coming against Spain on Thursday.
