Canada's Marco Arop wins 800m at Grand Slam Track stop in Florida

Edmonton's Marco Arop, the reigning 800-metre world champion, captures Grand Slam Track victory in his signature event. Great Britain's Josh Kerr claims the men's short distance title at the Grand Slam Track stop in Miramar, Fla., and Arop finishes second overall.

After taking the lead on the bell lap, Edmonton's Marco Arop held on to win the 800m at Grand Slam Track event in Miramar, Fla. on Saturday.

Edmonton's Marco Arop, the reigning 800-metre world champion, captures his straight Grand Slam Track victory in his signature event. Great Britain's Josh Kerr claims the men's short distance title at the Grand Slam Track stop in Miramar, Fla., and Arop finishes second overall.

Arop finished the race in a season's best time of 1:43.69, edging out American Yared Nuguse (1:43.75) who finished 2nd and Australian Peter Bol (1:44.13) in 3rd.

Great Britain's Josh Kerr claimed the men's short distance title and $100,000 US prize at the Grand Slam Track after finishing 5th in the 800m with a personal best time of 1:45.01. Kerr's 5th place finish earned him 4 more points to add onto his 12 points from his 1500m victory on Friday.

Arop would finish 2nd in the men's short distance overall scores. 

Bednarek takes 100m

American star, Kenny Bednarek won the men's 100-metre short sprints race in 9.79. Canadians Jerome Blake and Andre De Grasse finish 7th, 8th respectively. Both finished in over 10 seconds with Blake clocking 10.04 and De Grasse finishing in 10.05.

Kenny Bednarek of the United States wins the men's 100-metre short sprints race at the Grand Slam Track stop in Miramar, Fla. Fellow Canadians Jerome Blake and Andre De Grasse finish 7th, 8th respectively.

Canada's Lucia Stafford finished 6th in the 1500m in 4:14.66. 

Ethiopia's Freweyni Hailu would take the 1500m race in 4:06.96, ahead of American Nikki Hiltz in 2nd (4:07.08) and fellow country women, Diribe Welteji (4:07.46) in 3rd.
