Tom Walsh of New Zealand won the event with a throw of 21.13, while Poland's Michal Haratyk went 20.54 on his final attempt to pass Nedow, whose goal the entire outdoor season has been 21 metres.
Nedow, 25, reached that mark for the first time indoors in late January and three weeks later pushed it to 21.33 in a winning effort at the International Association of Athletics Federations World Indoor Tour event.
His season-best outdoor throw is 20.88, set April 30 at the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif., one week after Nedow won the Kansas Relays' fifth annual downtown shot put event with a throw of 20.77.
Fellow Canadians Shawn Barber (pole vault), Christabel Nettey (long jump) and Kimberly Hyacinthe (200 metres) will compete in Stockholm on Thursday (CBCSports.ca, 2 p.m. ET).
