Canada's Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes advanced to the final round in the men's normal hill ski jump at the 2018 Winter Olympics, but finished out of the medals.

After qualifying earlier this week, Boyd-Clowes was one of 50 in contention for the first jump of the finals on Saturday morning. His first jump of 111.1 points was good enough to have him in the top 30 competitors, who get to move on to the second jump where the medals are awarded, based on an aggregate score from the two jumps.

In his second jump he posted a score of 97, for a total score of 208.1, good enough for 26th place.

The gold medal went to Andreas Wellinger of Germany. Norway's Johann Andre Forfang took the silver, and his compatriot Robert Johansson the bronze.

Wellinger's win gives Germany a gold medal in the only ski jumping event in which it has never won a gold at the Olympics, having previously won gold in the large hill, team and women's events at previous Olympics.

Canada's highest finish in the event came in 1988 when Steve Collins finished in 13th place at the Calgary Olympics.

These Games are Boyd-Clowes' third Olympics. He'll go again in the large hill competition next Saturday.
