All four Canadians had a strong showing in the first Olympic equestrian jumping qualifier Sunday in Rio de Janeiro.

Ontario riders Amy Millar, 39, and Eric Lamaze, 48, are tied at the top with 22 other competitors following flawless performances at the Olympic Equestrian Course.

Millar, the daughter of 10-time Olympian Ian Millar, showed no signs of nervousness in her Olympic debut.

French-born Yann Candele of Caledon, Ont., and 32-year-old Tiffany Foster of North Vancouver, B.C., came through with four-penalty performances on a sunny day in Rio.

In the team qualifier, Canada sits in a tie for third place behind Brazil and Germany.

The Canadians won gold in the team event at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.

Equestrian jumping continues Tuesday at 9 a.m. ET.
