Brianne Theisen-Eaton won heptathlon bronze.

The Canadian multisport athlete stands alone in the photo above, but was joined by Jessica Ennis-Hill and Nafissatou Thiam on the podium.

Theisen-Eaton finished the 800-metre race — the last of seven events that make up the heptathlon — just behind 2012 Olympic champion Ennis-Hill (below in the long jump) who posted a season-best time in the 800-metre, but fell short of earning enough points to reclaim the gold medal, which went to Thiam of Belgium.

Elaine Thompson was all joy after her 100m win.

The Jamaican sprinter pulled off an Olympic upset Saturday night in Rio when she beat countrywoman and two-time defending gold medallist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the women's 100 metres.

Another Jamaican, so famous his silhouette needs no introduction, also won his race — a heat in the men's 100-metres — as did Canadian Andre De Grasse (out front in the photo below.) The two men will run side-by-side in the semifinals on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

Mo Farah fell in the 10,000m but won anyway.

The British distance runner defended his Olympic gold medal in dramatic fashion Saturday after recovering from a mid-race stumble in the men's 10,000-metre.

Lalonde was the only one of three Canadians in the Olympic 3000-metre steeplechase to qualify for the final on Monday.

Pamela Ware and Jennifer Abel dove into the final.

The duo have another shot at winning Olympic medals in the individual three-metre springboard event after a narrow miss in the synchronized event at the start of the Games. This is Australian diver Esther Qin of Australia on Thursday. Qin also made the final on Sunday.

Canada played Canada in beach volleyball.

Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley will represent Canada in the second round of quarterfinals on Sunday following a 2-0 win over countrywomen Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas. It was the first-ever all-Canadian Olympic matchup in Rio. The fan pictured below was cheering on Team Canada in a match against Germany earlier in the day.

U.S. fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad won a bronze medal.

Muhammad became the first hijab-wearing athlete to compete for the U.S. to win an Olympic medal after the conclusion of the women's team sabre event on Saturday. Here she celebrates during a fight with Russian Sofya Velikaya in the semifinal. The Russian team went on to win the gold with Ukraine taking the silver.
