Panthers sign Rostislav Olesz to long-term deal
The Florida Panthers signed forward Rostislav Olesz to a long-term deal on Monday.
Olesz, who was scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July 1, has agreed to a six-year contract with the Panthers.
Financial terms were not reelased.
The 22-year-old native of the Czech Republic scored a career-high 14 goals and tallied 26 points in 56 games last season. The left-winger would have played more but a hand injury sidelined for portions of the season.
"Rostislav is a very talented young player who we are pleased to have agreed to a long term deal with. He is a strong skater with a tremendous upside who plays well at both ends of the ice and on special teams," Panthers GM Jacques Martin said.
"Since being drafted in 2004, Rostislav has show consistent improvement, while demonstrating a willingness to become a more complete player. We look forward to his continued contributions to our club."
The Panthers selected Olesz in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2004 NHL draft.
In 190 NHL games, all with the Panthers, Olesz has 33 goals and 77 points.
