P.K. Subban's time at the world hockey championship is over before it even began.

The Canadiens defenceman is returning to Montreal after injuring his knee during a warm-up exhibition game, the NHL club announced Tuesday.

Subban went down in Canada's 2-1 victory over Switzerland on Sunday.

The Canadiens say Subban's injury will sideline him for approximately two weeks, but he will be re-evaluated by team doctors upon his arrival in Montreal.
