Odell Beckham: 5 things he says about his 1-handed catch
"Hold on to the ball"
It may be the greatest catch in NFL history. No matter how you rank the play, rookie receiver Odell Beckham Jr.'s one-handed catch is worth a second look.
Beckham stretched out his frame to get his hands on a 43-yard spiral from quarterback Eli Manning, holding on for a touchdown play that is sure to make the highlight reels for years to come.
Here's five things Beckham had to say about his super-human feat:
- "Hold on to the ball," Beckham said when asked what he was thinking when he made the play.
- "The ball couldn't have been placed better. It was a perfect spiral. With a ball like that, it makes it a lot easier to make a catch."
- "Honestly, after that type of moment, I couldn't really hear anything that's going on besides the crowd. I was just looking in the crowd and seeing the excitement that they had. That's enough right there."
- "I think I had a few guys just smile and laugh and say `that was the best catch I've seen."'
- "I wish there wasn't so much technology," Beckham said when asked about the attention the catch has garnered online
You would think with such an incredible catch Beckham would be happy with the night but for him the loss to the Cowboys made his accomplishment bittersweet.
"It's just a sick feeling losing. I've gotten better. I definitely don't like to lose, no matter what it is. Keep fighting. Keep practising this week. Practice hard and come out next week ready."
Practice makes perfect and this catch is the best example yet.
