NFL Week 12: Must-see moments

T.Y. Hilton keeps a promise to his newborn daughter, everyone forgets Richard Rodgers (except Aaron Rodgers), and Odell Beckham decides to break space and time. Here are some of your must-see moments from Week 12 in the NFL.

T.Y. Hilton keeps a promise to his newborn daughter, everyone forgets Richard Rodgers (except Aaron Rodgers), and Odell Beckham decides to break space and time. Here are some of your must-see moments from Week 12 in the NFL.

What did we just see there?

At around 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, Odell Beckham Jr. decided he was going to stake his claim to the Greatest Catch of All-Time. We're still not sure how he did it. We were even more confused when we saw that he only used three (!) fingers to do so.

Father figure

T.Y. Hilton became a father Sunday morning. With his wife, Shantrell, and daughter Eugenia both healthy after the birth, the Indianapolis Colts receiver got the go-ahead to play against Jacksonville. Before the game, he promised he’d score a touchdown for his newborn daughter.

He delivered in the third quarter, scoring on a 73-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Andrew Luck. Then, he let everyone know who the touchdown was dedicated to, cradling the football like a baby during his celebration.

The brand-new dad was interviewed after the game, and nearly broke down in tears when he talked about his baby girl.

How to win friends and influence people

…or maybe the opposite of that. This was the reaction from the Broncos bench after Denver kicker  Brandon McManus missed a 33-yarder against the Dolphins, his third miss in his last six attempts.

Huffing and puffing and breaking franchise records

Philadelphia return man Josh Huff got the Eagles started off on the right foot with a scintillating 107-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff against Tennessee, giving Philly a lead 13 seconds into the game.

Not only was it Huff’s first TD of his career, it was also the longest score in Eagles history. Philadelphia ran over the Titans 43-24.

Juuuust a little bit offside

Johnathan Joseph’s pick-six in the third quarter of the Bengals-Texans clash brought Houston within one score of taking the lead and turned a potential blowout into a tense affair down the stretch. But the play shouldn’t have counted at all.

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was clearly offside when the ball was snapped. The linesman missed the call and the score stood. The Bengals still won, preventing this blown call from being one of the biggest talking points of Week 12.

Tip drill

Chicago safety Chris Conte earned top marks for this interception against Tampa Bay, leaping high into the air and tipping the ball to himself to earn the pick.

Who had Richard Rodgers?

apparently no one.

Save it for the game! Oh wait…

Cleveland cornerback Joe Haden gave us one of the highlights of Week 12, and the game against Atlanta hadn’t even started yet.

Haden made a cameo in the background of ESPN reporter Lindsay Czarniack’s pre-game report, making what appears to be an impossible physics-breaking catch during warmups.

Anyone wondering if he wore himself out before kickoff had their fears quashed when he made a similar-looking leap for an interception in front of Julio Jones.

Sunday Afternoon Raw

This is a quick recap of an Arizona punt during the Seahawks-Cardinals game, which was mistaken for the end of a wrestling match in some circles:

  • Arizona punter Drew Butler receives the ball
  • Seattle defender DeShawn Shead runs towards Butler
  • Butler kicks Shead in the face
  • Shead upends Butler. Again, while being kicked in the face
  • The ball goes in the opposite direction Butler intended
  • An Arizona player picks up the ball
  • Arizona player’s day is ruined by Cooper Helfet
