The B.C. Lions have agreed to terms on a contract extension with defensive end Brent Johnson.

Details of the deal announced Friday weren't released.

B.C. also announced that linebacker Javy Glatt and offensive lineman Jason Jimenez have been released.

Johnson, who will enter his 10th season with the Lions, recorded six sacks and 39 defensive tackles last year while starting all 18 games.

A three-time CFL all-star (in 2005, '06 and '08), the native of Kingston, Ont., won the league's most outstanding defensive player award in 2006 and outstanding Canadian honours in 2005 and '06, when he had a combined 33 sacks.

"Brent is a veteran leader in our room as well as on the field and I am very pleased to know his ability and experience will continue to be part of our team," said Wally Buono, the Lions GM and head coach.

"When you have an opportunity to spend your entire career with one team it makes your time there very special," Johnson said. "Looking ahead to next season, I believe we still have a very strong core of veteran players and we're going to be an extremely tough team to play against."

Glatt appeared in 117 games for the Lions, collecting 362 tackles and nine interceptions. Jimenez joined B.C. before the 2006 season and didn't miss a start over his four-year, 72-game tenure.

"Jason and Javy are quality individuals who deserve a great deal of credit for our past success, " Buono said. "We wish them the very best."
