The Edmonton Eskimos released offensive lineman Joe McGrath on Wednesday.

The Moose Jaw, Sask., native joined the Canadian Football League team in 2004 and appeared in a total of 105 games over seven years with Edmonton.

He started throughout the playoffs on Edmonton's Grey Cup winning team in 2005.

In 2009, McGrath signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as a free agent but was later traded back to Edmonton in exchange for a first round selection in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft.

"We're in a position to make this move because of the quality and continued development of our young Canadian offensive linemen," Eskimos coach Richie Hall said in a statement. "We thank Joe for his contributions and wish him the best of luck for the future."
